I’m Russell Cunningham, founder and principal consultant of TheOpsCoach.

My Story
I spent most of my 20's serving as an officer in the Navy. When I left, I knew I wanted to work with people - to coach, develop, and help them thrive in their roles. What I didn’t expect was how often I’d hear the same story: “I’d love to work on my growth, but I just don’t have the time.”
Too many meetings. Too many tools. Too little time to think.

It became clear that personal development wasn’t necessarily failing because people didn’t care - it was failing because inefficient ways of doing work were stretching their bandwidth. So my focus generally shifted and over time became my mission: to remove the operational friction that keeps people from performing - and enjoying - their work, allowing space for real growth. In whatever shape that takes.

With a Master’s in Organisational Psychology and years of operational leadership behind me, I built TheOpsCoach to unite human insight with operational design. I personally lead every engagement, bringing in trusted specialists only when a project calls for additional technical or creative expertise.
Through this approach, I help businesses align their People, Processes, and Platforms so that structure gives back what chaos takes away: time, focus, and freedom.
Some clients work with me end-to-end; others engage for a single outcome - an executive dashboard, a system rebuild, or leadership coaching. Whatever the entry point, the goal is the same: to create clarity that lets people thrive and businesses grow.​
I believe that when structure replaces chaos, people rediscover their energy, their confidence, and their capacity to perform at their best. In keeping with the mountaineering metaphor that I love to lean on, my favourite quote:
